The AI Product Challenge, mapped.

Three live days with Kane, Alessia and Wes. Find it, design it, start building it. Then a 12-week program to build, launch, sell and partner. Easy to run, useful, and a bit silly on purpose.

The shape

Warm-up5 light posts in Kane's AI PRODUCT CHALLENGE Facebook group, in the days before Day 1.
3 live daysFind it · Design it · Start building it. Each day ends with something real they made.
The offerTurn Your Expertise Into an AI Product: 12 weeks, cohort 1 starts Tue 1 Dec.
12 weeksBuild → launch → sell and partner. A clear deliverable every 2–3 weeks.

The promise, from today's email

No code, no existing business and no idea needed. Products: AI agents, intelligent apps, digital assistants, smart coaching systems and automated workflows. For entrepreneurs, business owners, consultants and first-timers.

Proof we can say: Inc. 5000 two years running, launched more than a dozen tech companies, co-founder, board member or advisor to 30+ tech companies. The core audience from the 19 Oct call is 45–70: people with real experience and less tech.

Three rules that make it easy to deliver

1. One room, two tracks. The same teaching for everyone, then a short "your twist" for each track, so there's nothing extra to run.

2. Every day ends with a thing. A problem statement, a product canvas, a working v1. Nobody leaves with only notes.

3. Small and real beats big and imaginary. One use case, no hardening, no code. Kane on 19 Oct: "we're not going to be teaching them how to actually hard code or harden products."

Two tracks

A · The Curious

Thinking about building an AI or agentic product. May not have an idea yet. Needs: find a problem, pick a shape, build v1 without fear.

They leave the 3 days with one problem, one product canvas and a v1 they can show someone.

B · The Builders

Already in AI, maybe with a product. Their problem is selling it: positioning, partners and real sales conversations.

They leave with a sharp buyer, an offer and price ladder, a partner list and a sales-conversation script they've tried once.

Sort them before Day 1 with a "pick your track" poll in the group (post 5 below), and a one-word reply in the Zoom chat: "A" or "B".

1

FIND IT

Spot opportunities and problems people already pay to solve.

Big idea
Don't build what's cool. Build what people already pay to fix. Your best product idea is hiding in the questions you've answered a hundred times.
Live exercise
The Money Map (25 min). List 10 problems people have paid you, or someone like you, to solve. Score each one on three tests: people pay for it, it hurts often, you can explain how you fix it. Keep the winner.
  • The AI interviews them one question at a time: Hey Genius, interview me about my expertise Hey Genius, find my one problem
  • They leave with: one line, "I help [who] solve [problem]", plus the name of one real person who has that problem.
Funny bit
Shark Tank of Terrible AI Ideas. Kane and Wes pitch three awful AI products with full confidence (an AI that tells you when your toast is done, an AI life coach for houseplants, a chatbot that apologises for your emails). Chat scores each 1–10, then we run them through the three tests and watch them die. Then: "Now let's find yours."
Homework
Post your "I help…" line in the group. Message the one person you named and ask: "Would you pay to have this solved?" Bring the answer to Day 2.
Track twist
A · CuriousNo idea? Use your career: the AI interviews you about 20 years of work and pulls out the problems.
B · BuildersRun a sales autopsy on what you've built: who said yes, who ghosted and why. Narrow to one buyer, and list 3 partners who already sell to that buyer.
2

DESIGN IT

Turn expertise or an idea into an AI product and a new revenue stream.

Big idea
Your method is the product. AI is the delivery van. Plain AI gives the internet average; a product built on your method answers like you. Pick one use case small enough to finish.
Live exercise
One-page AI Product Canvas (30 min).
  • Capture the method from one real client (no names): Hey Genius, walk me through my method Hey Genius, turn my method into a checklist Hey Genius, what am I leaving out?
  • Pick a shape from the menu in the email: agent, intelligent app, digital assistant, smart coaching system or automated workflow.
  • Fill the canvas: who · problem · the 5–9 steps · what the AI does vs what you do · what only you would say · how it makes money.
  • They leave with: a named product on one page.
Funny bit
The Blind Taste Test. The same client question answered twice: plain AI, then AI with Wes's brain. Chat votes "Robot" or "Rockstar". Then Hey Genius, name my method, but first we read out the worst names it suggested.
Homework
Post your canvas and product name. Ask 3 people "Which of these would you actually use?" and bring back what they said.
Track twist
A · CuriousChoose the simplest shape that solves the problem. A coaching flow or an assistant usually beats an app.
B · BuildersDesign the offer, not the features: a pilot offer, a 3-step price ladder, and a one-line partner pitch ("Your clients have X; my product fixes it; you earn Y").
3

START BUILDING IT

Use AI tools without coding, and start mapping how to sell it.

Big idea
If v1 doesn't embarrass you a little, you waited too long. Build ugly, show early, and sell before you polish.
Live exercise
Build v1 live, then map the sale (40 min).
  • Load the Day 2 checklist into a brain, add one skill and connect it in Claude or ChatGPT: Hey Genius, set up my Genius Hey Genius, build my first skill
  • Ask it three real client questions: Hey Genius, answer as me: [question]
  • Map the sale: a one-page offer and the first 5 names to show it to: Hey Genius, write my offer message
  • They leave with: a working v1 and a message ready to send. A watch-only route for anyone stuck on tech.
Funny bit
Break My Bot. The audience gets 5 minutes to trip up Wes's live demo with trick questions. The best attempt wins a hot seat. When it fails, we fix it live, which shows exactly how testing works.
Homework
Send your offer message to 3 people (you send it yourself). Post a screenshot of v1 in the group. Then the invitation to the 12-week program.
Track twist
A · CuriousGet it working once; it doesn't have to be pretty. Show it to one person this week.
B · BuildersPractise a 10-minute sales conversation in pairs (problem, cost of the problem, demo, price, next step), and send one partner DM before the end of the session.

Running notes for the 3 days

Commands: about 10 "Hey Genius" commands carried over from the Genius Challenge (19 commands over 5 days, cut to fit 3). They run in a template brain with the skills already installed and ask one question at a time.

The offer: Kane's challenge model is the offer at the end, a repitch the next day, then a few days of cart open. With 3 days, the offer goes at the end of Day 3, and the calendar's "Challenge Bonus day" (Mon 2 Nov, 22:00–00:00 SAST) could be the repitch and Q&A. That's a proposal.

Never say: no income promises, no invented results, and the harness or Moat as a preview only ("members hear first"), with no dates.

Facebook group warm-up

Five light posts for Kane's AI PRODUCT CHALLENGE group, one a day before Day 1. Each one is fun, and each one quietly collects material for the live days.

5 days before
"Introduce yourself in 3 emojis, plus what people always ask you for help with."

Gets people posting, and seeds the Day 1 Money Map.

4 days before · poll
"If you built one AI product this month, what would it be?" Agent · App · Assistant · Coaching system · Workflow · "No clue yet (perfect, that's Day 1)"

Uses the five shapes from the email, and shows Kane where demand is.

3 days before
"Your AI clone takes over for a week while you're on the beach. What does it do, and what is it absolutely NOT allowed to do?"

Funniest answer gets read out live. The "not allowed" part becomes Day 3 guardrails.

2 days before
"Drop the question you've answered 100 times. We'll use some of them live."

Real client questions for the Day 2 taste test and Day 3 Break My Bot.

1 day before · poll
"Pick your track: A, I'm curious and want to build my first AI product. B, I've built something and need to sell it."

Sorts the room for the track twists, and tells us how many Builders turn up.

The 12-week program

$997 paid in full, or $297 deposit + 3 × $297 ($1,188)

Agreed with Kane on the 19 Oct call and in the 19 Oct working doc, for the 12-week program "Turn Your Expertise Into an AI Product". 12 weeks, cohort 1 starts Tue 1 Dec 2026. Whether it still holds now the challenge is 3 days: TBC with Kane.

Open questions for Wes + Kane

  1. Dates and times for the 3 days. The calendar still has the old 5-day slot (Mon 26 – Fri 30 Oct, 21:00–23:00 SAST) plus "Challenge Bonus day" on Mon 2 Nov. The 20 Oct plan had proposed 9–13 Nov.
  2. Does the program stay the same? 12 weeks, $997 or $297 + 3 × $297, starting 1 Dec. And what's its name: "Turn Your Expertise Into an AI Product", or a "3-month sprint"? The second could be confused with the $597 Sprint.
  3. Entry: free, free plus a $55 VIP, or paid?
  4. Where's the pitch? End of Day 3 with the Bonus day as the repitch, or something else? Who says the price?
  5. Track B: do Builders get the same offer, or a different next step (for example the $2–3k certification later)?
  6. Day 3 live build: what's ready to show? The Product Dev Suite demo go/no-go was set for 30 Oct. Fallback: Brain Builder plus a connector.
  7. Money after week 12: the suite price (it has to be published before enrolment), who pays for tokens, Moat and Stripe, and partner and affiliate terms in writing.
  8. Community and assets: does Kane's AI PRODUCT CHALLENGE group become the lifetime cohort community, and who moderates it? Do we keep the "Hey Genius" wording and reuse the Genius Challenge decks?
